Choose a component or fault signature to view an idealized voltage-current trace and learn what differences may mean. Use the correct test mode for the device: a passive signature tracer and a powered semiconductor curve tracer do not produce the same plots.
SAFETY: Only test isolated, discharged circuits using equipment within its rated voltage and current limits. Never connect a curve tracer to an energized drive or mains circuit. In-circuit paths can change signatures; confirm with the schematic and a known-good comparison.
